Start your drive from Tirthan Valley early (around 8 AM) to beat the afternoon clouds and ensure ample time for exploring the pass’s surroundings. The pass itself features the ancient Mahakali Temple at its summit. From this base, you have two primary trekking options:
Option A: Serolsar Lake Trek (Easy to Moderate) This is a 6 km one-way forest walk that takes approximately 2 to 2.5 hours. The trail is mostly well-defined and relatively flat, winding through dense canopies of deodar cedars, blue pines, and kharshoo oaks. At the end of the trail lies the serene Serolsar Lake, home to the Budhi Nagin Temple, a site of deep local spiritual significance.
Option B: Raghuwar (Raghupur) Fort Trek (Moderate to Challenging)
For those seeking a steeper climb, this 3 km uphill trek takes about 1 to 2 hours through beautiful oak and rhododendron forests. While only stone ruins remain of the 1,500-year-old fort, it offers a breathtaking 360-degree panoramic view of the Great Himalayan, Dhauladhar, and Kinnaur ranges.
Afternoon: Scenic Descent to Jibhi
As you descend from Jalori Pass toward your night stay in Jibhi, make the following stops:
Shoja Village: Located just 30 minutes from Jibhi, this small village is famous for its apple orchards and sweeping views of the Banjar Valley.
Mini Thailand: A unique spot near the Jibhi River featuring natural rock pools and smooth stone formations that resemble tropical landscapes.
Jibhi Waterfall: A pretty, small cascade accessible via a short 15–20 minute walk through a lush forest trail.
Shringa Rishi Temple: A striking multi-story tower-style temple built without cement or steel, showcasing masterful local craftsmanship.
Evening: Jibhi Stay or Delhi Departure
Relax at a cozy homestay in Jibhi to soak in the valley’s quiet charm.
Note: For those on a tight schedule, you can head to Aut by evening to catch an overnight luxury Volvo bus back to Delhi.Stargazer’s Tip: If you choose to camp overnight at Raghuwar Fort, the lack of artificial light makes it one of the best spots in the region for stargazing and night photography.
